Bela Bartok(1881-1945), Hungarian composer, was born in Nagy Szent Miklos, Hungary, March 25, 1881; died in New York, September 26, 1945. Noted fpr researches in folk-music and for compositions in original modern idioms; studied with with Koessler and Erkel in Budapest Academy; later taught there. He composed concertos, various forms of music based on Romanian and Hungarian folk music.
